By design, the United States immigration system makes it impossible for the millions of immigrants seeking to build a new life in this country to gain status and security here. Rather than facilitate our transition to a new life in the United States, the system punishes immigrants and denies us “legal” status at any given step of the process. This is especially true for immigrants of color, women, immigrants with disabilities, and poor immigrants.
Consequently, there are more than 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States today without a pathway to citizenship.
Without the security of U.S. citizenship, millions of immigrants and their families live with the fear of being separated from their loved ones through deportation, and are denied access to critical public benefits and rights like healthcare, higher education, driver’s licenses, and gainful employment.
The human costs of such a system are staggering. More than 3.5 million immigrants have been deported from the United States. Families and communities have been torn apart and separated, inflicting irreversible psychological trauma between parents and children, brothers and sisters, and spouses and loved ones.
Enough is enough.
No human being should have to live like this.
The solution is simple: we need an immediate and unconditional pathway to citizenship in the United States for all 11 million undocumented immigrants. We need citizenship for all.
All people who desire to access a pathway to citizenship, including those who are formerly or currently incarcerated, should be able to do so without having to prove that they are worthy because of their ability to speak English, make money, or be physically fit. We should be able to access a pathway to citizenship because immigrants - like you - are human beings deserving of safety, security, health, and love.
Another world is possible.
We can rebuild our laws and government to reflect a world where immigrants are defined not by our labor, but by our humanity. Join us in demanding that our United States government legislates a pathway to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented immigrants!
